2026 CT COLT Poetry Recitation Contest

The Poetry Recitation Contest (memorized poem delivery) is an annual event open to CT students in grades 7 through 12 whose teachers are members of CT COLT and teach in a CT school. Poetry slates are available in the following languages: Albanian, Ancient Greek, Arabic, ASL, Chinese (Mandarin only), ESOL/ML, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Tamil.

Students may enter the Poetry Recitation Contest in the following categories in most languages: Middle School, Level 1 (Beginning or FLEX program); Middle School Level 2 (Continuing language), High School Levels 1-6; Heritage Speaker, Middle School; Heritage Speaker High School. To access the information packet for the contest, please click here.

NEW FOR 2026: Teachers of participating students must complete both this initial registration AND the student registration form, which will be sent to you upon submission of this registration. District supervisors should not complete either registration form; your teachers' invoices will be forwarded to you after the registration window closes.
