CT COLT is excited to present a series of five webinars for the 2024-2025 school year, themed "Connecting Our World Through Sustainable Development Goals."

We’re continuing our series with the third session Ocean Voices: Bridging Bilingual Education and Ocean Literacy featuring Catherine Haase and Jamie Mack. Catherine is a Spanish teacher and World Language Department Chair at Torrington High School, now in her 14th year of teaching. She strives to create a welcoming classroom with engaging, creative lessons and holds degrees in Secondary Education, Spanish, Romance Languages, and Educational Leadership. This year, CT COLT proudly recognizes her as the 2024-2025 Language Teacher of the Year!

Session abstract:

In this session, participants will explore how to foster community connections and raise environmental awareness through interdisciplinary connections between World Languages and other disciplines. Through connections with UN Sustainable Development Goals, participants will gain practical tips for how to empower climate advocacy, as well as learn about examples of interdisciplinary grants.

Registration for this workshop is free for CT COLT members. Please direct any questions to the CT COLT PD Committee by emailing professionaldevelopment@ctcolt.org.
