Event details
Join us for our third event in the 2023-2024 Professional Learning Series with CT COLT Teachers of the Year! Our workshop: Inquiry - Based Instruction and Authentic Resources - will be presented by Yensen Sierra Lambert on Thursday, November 9 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Yensen is the current Department Chair of World Languages at Greens Farms Academy in Greenwich, CT, where she teaches Spanish in the Upper School. In addition to teaching Spanish at the high school and university levels, Yensen has co-authored and contributed to several textbooks, and works for the College Board developing AP instructional materials. We look forward to having her share more about her passion for developing proficiency with resources that are meaningful to students.
The workshop will be followed by an opportunity to connect, network, and chat with other language teachers. Session will be recorded and available afterwards on our website under members only content.
Session abstract:
As educators, we are very familiar with the concept of an essential question as the driving force of a thematic unit, but what happens when students come up with their own essential questions? Including relevant and interesting authentic resources in our curriculum can spark curiosity and motivation for our students to conduct their own investigations of the target language. This webinar will take a deep dive into the world of student-driven essential questions in the language classroom and the types of authentic resources that motivate them.
Registration for this workshop is free for CT COLT members. If you are not already a member, you can join through the registration process or by clicking here.
