A wonderful way to promote the study of world languages is to encourage your students to share their enthusiasm with their peers throughout Connecticut. The CT COLT Artwork Contest affords this opportunity! The contest is now expanded to include a wide variety of mediums to encourage more student creativity and participation! This event will include K-12 Connecticut students whose teachers are members of CT COLT. Students are to submit an piece of artwork related to the 2022 theme:
Connections Across Languages, Cultures, and Communities
Registration for this event will be open from January 3 to March 4, 2022
Deadline for artwork submissions: March 4, 2022
In order to be considered eligible for judging, all of the following criteria must be met:
PLEASE NOTE: ANY ART THAT DOES NOT MEET ALL OF THE CRITERIA WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Rubrics for each category are now on the event webpage under "Judging Criteria"!
Art must incorporate the exact wording of the theme, though other words (in any language) are now allowed on artwork submissions. Copyrighted figures and music are NOT permitted in the artwork. The artwork will be judged for its graphic merit, not artistic skill.
Registration form must be completed in its entirety.
School Entry Fee: $10 for CT COLT members (all artwork submitted must be submitted by CT COLT members).
Student Entry Form (with signatures) must be obtained by teacher, and teachers are expected to retain these forms for their records.
THERE IS NO LONGER A SCHOOL LIMIT FOR SUBMISSIONS. The limit is 15 submissions per teacher. Multiple teachers from the same school will now be allowed to submit entries for the contest. Teacher limit of 5 names per level and category must not be exceeded for each teacher (Elementary K-2, Elementary 3-5, Middle /Jr. High School, High School). Teachers who work at multiple schools may submit up to 15 entries for each school at which they are employed.
Art must be uploaded to registration form or postmarked no later than March 4, 2022.
Since teachers can now submit digital copies of the artwork, schools can now keep the artwork for themselves, perhaps for display at school. Artwork submissions that are mailed will not be returned.
In addition to winning a prize for best in their category, the winning pieces of art will be displayed on the CT COLT website. Furthermore, the winning artwork will be featured in the CT COLT Newsletter and the 2023 CT COLT Calendar, which is typically distributed at our Annual Conference.
